No, there are some various types of RJ11 cable sold in UAE, some come with 2 pin other come with 4 pin, AND so what i mean to say is that 4 pin are mostly for LANDLINES, and 2 pins are for INTERNET purpose like DIAL UP etc.

So my point of saying is that 4 pin DID'nt work once while i connected it for internet in UAE, maybe IN INDIA its different.
2 pin only works for dial up in UAE, ADSL i didn't check.

Sorry guys, i was in the middle of replying to Amish when my entire house wiring burnt out, had to move in with my father till it got repaired. Well, that prodding thing worked for a month, that's the first thing i tried but then it really drew it's breath when i said it did. Will get a new fan as advised, that seems the best option, would be a shame to give up on my trusty smps entirely. Thanks for all the help.

Where do we get HI-GAIN usb adapter in MUMBAI, i need it bcause i want to BOOST my speed.

Like this 1 : ENGENIUS EUB 362- EXT.
This ADAPTER i bought from DUBAI, broke just a month ago.
The performance preety good.

In MUMBAI, even in shopping malls i did not find any HI-gain USB adapter like the 1 above, I saw only TP-link which is less powerful @ RS 800.

If not HIGH gain then atleast a good powerful USB adapter for LONG RANGE, can u suggest me and where to get in MUMBAI.

MTNL broadband requires username/pass?

Well a few days ago i was roaming around the mtnl mumbai broadband page...and thought of changing the password so that i dont forget it later...cuz of which my internet got disconnected immediately.

Actually i couldn't figure out what happened...called the mtnl helpline and they said its because of the password change they'll send an engineer to rectify the problem...and then i never heard from them again.

I used hard-reset on the modem and played around in the gateway(192.168.1.1) page (sysrestarted with factory settings too!) to figure out the problem...but i realized i now have to use dial-up thing to connect to the internet(which requires username and password again and again)...instead of just switching on the modem and automatically connecting to the internet.

Its not a big problem but as I keep big downloads at night while i sleep...most of the time mtnl gets disconnected after few hours and i wake up in the morning to realize that the download didnt complete...:@

Any suggestions on how to fix this? :(
(Sorry for not framing this too well...i'm kind of in a hurry :P)

Hi all gurus out there.

I am using MTNL 3G jadoo services in Mumbai and very disappointed with the speeds that I am getting in Mumbai. The highest speed that I have got for download is 0.19mbps and upload speed of 0.16mbps on my SGS. Please suggest. I am from Mulund Mumbai and use it at Mulund and Andheri Sakinaka.

if there is a seperate route to give subs in DTH , why hard code ? it spoils the fun of seeing a movie... for cable users , its ok to hard code coz there is no other option for them , as the signals are one way ... But in DTH service ,they have a seperate route for it.. why cant simply use and relieve people who dont want to see the subs ...
This is one main reason , i have moved from watching movies on TV

How to check BSNL Broadband Account Usage?

Then, check your phone bill for the username. Or type http://192.168.1.1 and go to the modem's console. Then go to INTERNET settings. Check the setting which is active (with external IP shown). Then click edit. Click next repeatedly till you see the username area. Note down the username and just close the browser window without making any changes.

Try and see.

hey nithin, you are having that problem cause the pppoe cant figure out which service you are trying to log in on... this will fix it..!

you will need to edit a perticular file located at here

/etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider

to do so, go to konsol and type

#gksu gedit /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider

in that file you will see a line something like this

plugin rp-pppoe.so eth0

you will need to insert this into the line before eth0

rp_pppoe_service <the_service_name>

replace the "<the_service_name>" with your net-service name. (the dialer you use in windows should have that name)

so the line should look like this

plugin rp-pppoe.so rp_pppoe_service <the_service_name> eth0

save and close the file. now

pon dsl-provider command should work like a charm.

I don't know about official launch. But haven't seen 3G Signal (trial) when searching network in UMTS mode. I search network at least 3/4 times a day (for some research here in IBF). I am currently getting BSNL, RELIANCE, AIRCEL here in UMTS.

i saw the comparison of netconnect(CDMA 1X) and netconnect+ of reliance.....

even though the speed of CDMA 1X is lesser than netconnect+, CDMA 1X has 26000 towers and national in no.on cities but netconnect+ has only 5100 tower and 500 cities

will this make a big difference.....because i will use this plug and play internet only when i m travelling in train....during this time i will not download heavily but will use only to surf internet......in tht case what should i go? will CDMA 1X offer me decent speed?

Ok here is the review.



After 1 week of non stop calls from reliance people informing me that they will be coming for the demo today and blah blah , they finally came to my office on saturday.


The guy who brought the demo was nothing more than a delivery boy i felt. I asked him various questions regarding the broadband but he was confused and i felt i was talking in greek to him .

You have to open up a connector in order to connect to the broadband and under the settings of the connector you have to enter the username and the password , the username was some reliance number and the password was the same .

I tried to connect several times but it kept on coming could not get a dial tone error repeatedly , i got frustrated and asked this guy whats wrong man! ?

He then checked in the settings again and then changed the connection type to 1x network (you get 3 choices : 1x , hsd , hybrid) , i asked him 1x network is your normal network for slow speeds so why are you connecting to that ? Guess what the reply was ?


Sir we have not launched hsd network as yet , i got even more frustrated and asked him why are you advertising for high speed data 3.1 mbps connection and misleading the users , like i thought he had no reply.


Anyway got connected to the 1x network , the speed frustrating was nothing more than 12kb download .

I disconnected and tried connecting to the hsd network again , to my surprise it got connected , i asked him how come it got connected to hsd network right now ? He said oh sorry sir hsd network is launched you can connect to the hsd network too , i just couldnt believe with what i was dealing with .

Anyway 2nd time connected with the hsd network and tried downloading some file again , guess what the speed was on hsd network too ?

Lol i was not getting more than 30kb download at the max .


I asked the guy to leave , told him you have a great product but i am not interested at all !!

Reliance is living upto its name ! Fooling people and what not !

If any of the ppl from reliance is reading this , then wake up , yall are nothing but white collar thieves !!! Robbing in day light !! Thats what yall are doin !!

Hello Reliance (BIGTV) Digital TV users,

From last some of my calls to CC, i found out that every time i call them; 1 or 2 Rs. of amount is getting deducted from my account each time.

It is pathetic. They are charging us to call their CC. It is rediculous.

18002009001 - They call TOLL FREE number (of course we dont pay for that to call) but REL charge us to talk to their CC.

They make mistakes, give us faulty hardware, do technical problems and if we call to ask for solution, they charge us!!!

VERY BAD CC now becomes EXTREMELY WORST CC
