TV signals to go digital by 2015; Delhi in line for 2012 Posted: 04 Feb 2011 01:55 AM PST yup...thats true. LCD markets are growing like anything and for that we require good quality signals and with HIGH RESOLUTIONS too. Cables/analog systems will die by itself. No need for deadlines. If govt wants to take credit for digital revolution then let them take it. |

Idea too is blocking MNP requests from its customers Posted: 03 Feb 2011 10:15 PM PST Forwarded a complaint to Deputy Director General of Telecom Enforcement, Resource and Monitoring (TERM) Cells , first thought to forward the complaint to concern IDEA Nodal Officer/Appellate authority, but u know how the system works here. In fact they are all Puppets in the hands of Network Operators (not to blame all). So forwarded to DDG of TERM Cells. Hope what he'll do...?? Meanwhile i request all the members who are victims of this kinda unethical practices.......please don't be calm forward the complaints to DDG of TERM Cells of the concern area/circle.....hoping for justice to be done. |

Posted: 03 Feb 2011 08:50 PM PST Your case is better. I have Rs.110 balance in my account before the expiry date of 04.01.2011. Next day i was shocked by the SCRAMBLED message. I called the customer service, they told only Rs.11 in my account. What SD cheats done was deducted Rs.99 and not renewed the pack. The fraud customer care executive lady argued that i had only Rs.11 the previous day and no chance of having Rs.110/-. I got frustrated and cut the call as I have no proof. Suddenly an idea flashed in my mind. It was last month I have activated TEN CRICKET on 15.12.2010. While I try to activate it have Rs. 134/- balance. TEN CRICKET costs Rs.45. But it didn't accept because as TEN CRICKET was valid till 24 Jan, we need to have enough balance for next months base pack subscription. That is we need 99+45 (144) to activate it. So I recharged for Rs.25 (net balance 22) and and brought the balance to 156. I don't have any other add-on packs. I called CC again and argued the same. The CC executive was shocked and can't speak anymore and said it was a technical fault (Usual reason they give when caught while cheating). Now she gave me a complaint number asked me to switch on STB and TV and wait for some time. Within 2 Minutes I got all channels back. |

Posted: 03 Feb 2011 08:12 PM PST I think I see what you want to to... essentially you want a latitude/maps combo? You're not the first person to ask for that. Off the top of my head, I don't think there are any apps with which you could do that on the desktop because your desktop device is not equipped with a GPS and there may also be some privacy and safety issues too (if the information were to be accessible by more than one person on the web). Of course, if you had the location of the person to whom you are giving directions, surely you can just give directions over the phone using google maps by itself (copy & paste gps coordinates) "Para left diya jana petrol pump, right bari jaba apa ko mila ICICI bank, atita Paradise CHS jana, aura A block ke 4 manjila ke li e jana, battisa sankhya"? Otherwise, for now, I guess you'll have to simply get the person's GPS coordinates (which you could do with mgmaps), then put that in to google maps as the starting point, and the address or gps coordinates for the destination. |
Nokia Smartphone Strategy Shift -- Android or Windows 7 ???? Posted: 03 Feb 2011 07:14 PM PST I agree, webos is one the best OS for mobiles but yes Palm failed miserably to showcase best things of that OS to the users. They also made very stupid mistakes with dealing developers. I remember as I was part of the project where my company wanted to develop email messaging client on webos but they were so stupid that they never allowed us to make few core changes to webos like making our email client as default email client or calendar as default client. They just refused while they allowed us to do every thing to their previous Palm OS. This all happened when Apple allowed us to make those changes in iOS3 and all other different mobile OS were also allowing us. I guess they paid very dearly for those mistake otherwise webos had really potential to kill all hype what iphone iOS have. |

Posted: 03 Feb 2011 06:00 PM PST Recently I bought a tv tuner card named Avertv super009 from AverMedia. It is a PCI type tuner card for my old desktop. I started configure it on Ubuntu 10.10. Avertv Super009 is "saa7134" based tv tuner card and supported by 2.6.35 kernel. Ubuntu recognised my tv tuner card without any problem. I cannot get any sound when using tv time. Again the same problem.............:icry: I got a fix from linuxtv.org after a detailed research. Sound problem solved in TVtime. Now, I am watching tv on Linux machine. "Linux is ready for watching TV". |

Posted: 03 Feb 2011 01:48 PM PST Not necessarily. Rs3/GB (Rs900/mbit/month) sounds like it's coming pretty close to cost to me - probably couldn't go *too much* lower than that - those cables aren't cheap to build, ya know (not cheap as in i2i from Chennai to Singapore costing $250 million dollars not cheap), but at the prices they charge now and have been charging historically, I expect they've already made that money back so it'll just be operational expenses and maintenance. ---------- Post added at 03:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:15 AM ---------- Don't forget the overage fees of 20, 30, 40, 50 paise/MB or more equalling Rs200-500/GB... or more with some ISPs! Our charge is essentially going to be 1 paise per MB. |

Posted: 03 Feb 2011 11:06 AM PST Abdulla Family is hated more than anyone else in both Jammu as well as Kashmir valley. It is no surprise Abdulla's National Conference (NC) lost elections that were held when vajpayee was the PM. Those are the only elections that are widely regarded as the only free and fair elections in Kashmir. So Abdullas are more like a liability than an ally for any party in power in Delhi. NDA will do well to stay away from NC. I agree with those who say that Arun Jaitley is a good option for 2 reasons. One is that he is very educated, relatively young to last for 5-10 years of hard work in office and has clean image. Other is that he doesn't belong to any dynasty and this is a big plus. Basically anyone who has experience of working hard and earning a honest living will be better that the Gandhi family on any given day. |
Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus: broadband review Posted: 03 Feb 2011 11:05 AM PST Hi, I've got a new R net-connect BB+ few days back, called the CC several times regarding the spped, they gave me the same reason (change to BB+ instead of Hybrid) but it does not make any difference. I get only 70 kbps on an average. They have commited 3.1 mbps speed. (Bull shit). :madness: |

Web Hosting with US based servers Posted: 03 Feb 2011 08:42 AM PST I know I am posting this in the wrong section. But, the link to the web-hosting section of the forum seems broken. I am always being redirected to the following page. http://tradeshade.com/category/computers/web-hosting/ Admin, if you can, please move this post to its appropriate place. Now for the issue, I am searching for a good web hosting provider with US based servers for one of my clients. My requirements are as follows: 1. A good after sales support and of course, minimal downtime. (We are yet to decide whether we'll go for shared or VPS. That'll depend on the cost involved.) 2. A good control panel like cPanel/Plesk. 3. Ability to set up at least 10 or more sub domains. 4. Preferably 50 or more email ids at least. Awaiting your suggestions and valuable inputs. |
