Posted: 09 Jan 2011 02:26 AM PST

I am interested in Rs 4200 postpaid promotional offer. But have a confusion, I don't think that BSNL will send bill after 6months i.e. will give free service for 6 month. So please provide detail about this plan that how it is postpaid?

Thank You

Apple iPhone Alarm Bug and Google Android SMS Bug

a lot of my friends with iphones r really pissed off lol a few of them r still trying to sort their phone numbers back after the data sync software mixed them all up and now this. I personally like the iphones (coz of the tech revolution they unleashed) but have always avoided apple products as i like to tweak/customize my stuff be it phone OS or comp OS and hate it when companies try to decide for us what we can or cant do. I still love my my (quite old) sony walkman phone w950 and my (a bit old) samsung i8910 HD and have custom modded them for such a long time.

Yes, the rates might be premium only compared to your Rs400 for 256kbit/s unlimited but mostly because this is not the level of service we are offering. Nothing less than 2mbit/s, and in flat-rate options, starting at either 5 or 10mbit/s, which simply by the very nature of the service will require the premium charges.

However, for those who can deal with a limited download amount per month, we can offer 30GB on wireless (up to 30mbit/s, generally expected to deliver 8mbit/s on average) at Rs649 and then 100mbit/s services starting at Rs599 plus data (maximum price Rs14.7 per GB)

thanks for the info. hoping that u guyz come to calcutta soon as i do d/l a lot and upload even more and even though currently i have good UL data speeds 1.5 - 2 mbps day and 3-4 mbps @ night my uploads would be better with hayai coz even with those speeds its quite slow as the ppl d/l from me have high speeds not to mention situations when small bugs in my distros can force me to recompile and reupload again.

Airtel Broadband 2mbps unlimited with no fair usage policy?

Posted: 09 Jan 2011 12:57 AM PST

currently i am using a 2mbps connection with with night speeds 3-4 mbps and there is no fup on the connection. Its cable Internet and is provided by Meghbela and i am paying around 1799 for the connection. I have never faced any speed probs with it other than their login tool which didn't auto reconnect and used to piss me off when i am came home and saw my torrentlib client had been idle coz of that. But after i complained they decided to put me in an always on state and till now (its been nearly a year) there has been no probs. I try to keep my avg d/l around 180 - 220 gb per month while my uploads r usually higher around 250gb as i upload custom compiled linux distro a lot and not to mention seeding my d/l of tv shows etc

New 3G connection on Samsung Corby Pro HSDPA

Posted: 09 Jan 2011 12:11 AM PST

Hey guys,

I'm going to take a new BSNL 3G connection on my HSDPA enabled Corby mobile phone in Kolkata, West Bengal. This will be my first BSNL mobile connection and I've no previous experience whatsoever of either the SIM or the usage/balance access codes.

I don't know if there is a 3G enabled tower near to my residence. But I've been seeing ads in the local newspapers & also on my BSNL telephone bills. I'll go to my local exchange in a few days and ask about it.

I intend to use it for:
Basic/local telephony, messaging, Broadband - Browsing/Downloading & as a modem for internet access on PC/notebook.

But there are a few things I need to know from you guys so that I'm not mislead.

Please correct the following statements if I'm wrong & kindly provide answers to the questions I've asked:

1) Initial SIM & Activation Charges for both Voice and Data plans under 3G postpaid and prepaid service will cost me Rs. 59 incl. tax. I should get myself a 128k SIM, right?

2) The new SIM will be valid for 7 days, from the date of activation and must be recharged with First Recharge Coupon (FRC), within those 7 days to gain full functionality.

3) Found this on the BSNL 3G Info web-page:

FRCs offered under 3G Services (Prepay):
51
120 (GL)
105 (SA)
58 (SA - all 0.49)
52 (SA - 1p/sec)
56 (GL - all 0.49)
47 (GL - 1p/sec)

'SA' & 'GA' represent 'Saral Anant' & 'General' respectively.

What's the difference between them, other than charges/rates/freebies? Is there any special advantage of 'SA' over 'GL'?

Does selecting an improper FRC affect the max. attainable download speed?

My needs are 1p/s pulse & 3G data transfer speed.

Which FRC should I get?

4) If I take FRC 47 (GL - 1p/sec), I'm supposed to get:

1 week unlimited data download for 7 days, offered from the date of activation.
After 7 days, normal freebies of 200 MB will be credited to my account.

Can this data (1 week Unlimited + 200MB) be downloaded at 3G speeds, if the network permits?

Will I get 3G download speed on data DL, chargable at Rs. 0.01/10KB, after the expiration of the 1 week Unlimited + 200MB, if I don't activate a dedicated data plan?

5) How much time does the activation process generally take?
For example: Vodafone/Airtel 2G connections get activated on-site (store) after submission/checking of application and requisite documents. Will it be the same in case of a new BSNL 3G application?

Replies are welcome. Thanks in advance:)
