Fivenet New Diwali Plan Rs. 5,999 for 1 Year, Upto 10 Mbps speed Posted: 04 Jan 2011 02:31 AM PST Speed results just taken between 3:30-4pm IST - there is nothing to do with the speed and time. At any point of time u wil get this speed result, The catch is, it gives 10mbps speed for 10 secs and then next 10 secs, it would be around 1.5mbps, and again for next 7-10 secs it would be 10mbps and so on. so not a constant 10mbps line. But worth the money. here are some results from different parts of the world. And have also attached a picture of downloading a file(from cnet website-norton antivirus file), using IDM, the speed fluctuates as in 10mbps for 10 secs then next 10 secs it would be around 1.5mbps. Please check the picture attached. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1096456471.png -lahore http://www.speedtest.net/result/1096457351.png - dhakka http://www.speedtest.net/result/1096458173.png -columbo http://www.speedtest.net/result/1096459223.png -karachi http://www.speedtest.net/result/1096460358.png - delhi http://www.speedtest.net/result/1096461435.png - Mumbai http://www.speedtest.net/result/1096464129.png - London http://www.speedtest.net/result/1096467884.png - New york http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/2...reenshotmq.png - download screenshot |

BIG TV re-booting - Hang on a point Posted: 04 Jan 2011 01:42 AM PST Hi, I am getting a message "Error Type (2) check your cable connections or call CC". To correct this error I have done the below but no use: 1. I have done factory Reset the STB press power on remote and put STB in standby mode and then press red button until all three lights in the STB blink and leave the red button, reset will start now but it still show the first activation page with language selection screen. 2. My Signal setting (STB2) are LNB : on freq :11700 Base freq: 12688 Pol: Horizontal SR: 27500 FEC: 3/4 3. I press OK twice on the first language selection screen but still the the channels have not refreshed instead showing Error Type (2). 4. Checked my cable connections its connected properly. Currently I am getting only the first activation screen with language selection option. Note: My signal strength is good with 7 green dots. Please reply urgently |
Hayai Broadband Launch in India Posted: 04 Jan 2011 01:39 AM PST Yeah, but at certain level's we're not that much different - the 18+6GB was merely a comparison to the equivalent plan - go too much lower and we don't have anything to compare to at all without going to Hayai Lite (which work then work out to be from Rs59.8/GB at the 5GB level to Rs21.6/GB at the 30GB level). But yeah, otherwise I'd agree - I might even go so far as to suggest that anything beyond about Rs200/GB after taking in to account things like infrastructure and taxes is a little bit ludicrous and perhaps even counter-intuiative. How in the hell do they expect to reach 75 million broadband subscribers in the next couple of years if the prices don't come down drastically (whether on 3G, WiMax or good-old ADSL) is beyond me. In my view, they already could have that much if they simply charged more reasonable rates. |

Samsung Galaxy S I9000 - Product Discussion & Initial Purchase Experience Posted: 04 Jan 2011 12:04 AM PST I agree that Apple restricts direct upload of files to its devices but still itunes has many options compared to KIES. Specially i like online store where in you can buy music, movies, videos and apps. I got an Ipod classic 80GB variant and quite satisfied with itunes. It would have been better if we could bypass itunes for moving music or videos. |

Ping Test results on various ISPs in India Posted: 03 Jan 2011 11:59 PM PST I'm glad it helped. :) I use Wireline. Good latency is hardly possible with wireless. I'm not sure on what grounds you're making the comparison of Reliance vs Airtel -- market cap, customers etc. Eitherway, Reliance is a massive company. The RCOM subsidiary itself is more or less close to the whole Bharti Airtel group in-terms of revenue and market cap. ;) I am luckily, an exception here. As in, it's a rarity to see North Indian users with good latencies to foreign servers. I get <90 to SingTel servers, which is somewhat of a surprise given that most Mumbai users (Geographically closer to Singapore, if you go on basic grounds) get 130-140. In the technological scope, I guess distance doesn't matter much here as India isn't a gigantic country. Tata has great EU routing, though. Not sure how they fare on Asian/AU/US servers. Doubt it's worth the switch given their terribad plans/abysmal customer support/FUP. |
