Check the mode in which you are connected...May be you are in No signal area and getting 2G speeds!

When Hayai Broadband Is Gonna Start In Mumbai...

Posted: 01 Dec 2010 01:21 AM PST

i have been hearing abt this ISP for a while now but was surprised when i tried to visit their site as i was told that they had started their services since the beginning of this year coz the look of the site said otherwise. After going through few of the threads here i realized why though like any BB users I am skeptical till i actually c them giving connections. Since i am in Calcutta i dont expect to see them in this city for maybe a few years from now but i was wondering that when they do start their services in bombay the pricing will not be for the average man. i maybe be wrong but i get the feeling that their rates will be Premium only

Horrible installation experience

Posted: 01 Dec 2010 01:08 AM PST

Ali showed up very promptly on the same day to collect cash 8K (6 mo plan). I was told it will take 1 week to finish the installation. 10 days later I call them and turns out rats have chomped on the cables downstairs (this is a brand new building in L&T Serene County Hyderabad so I find it hard to believe). Another week from then no sign of the service. I have to constantly call the sales guy called Manzoor over and over again and baseless assurances are given but nothing.

I have asked for the money back, I don't want this crap. I am afraid to say even BSNL was better than this and BSNL itself is nothing to be thrilled about.

Few questions about Reliance Wireline (Broadband) internet

Posted: 01 Dec 2010 01:00 AM PST

Flame....

As i told you, theres no such thing like modem page for me.....its just that i have to login, and like any other place, here too, theres a welcome screen, with the email option, and some "Account" related settings - ie, not the Modem/Router related ones, and Bill pay options & such things.....

I dont have a router at all, which can be configured - as is the case in MTNL, where you login to that "192.168.1.1" to configure your router......

As regards choosing between Wireless or Wired - well i have said i can be sure that Wired one is giving nice performance. But for Wireless, i dont have much knowledge - you need to check up that thread for the pros and cons of Wireless Reliance connection.

But i didnt understand that ping stats u put up with respect to my IP......in fact i am ignorant as to what Pinging actually does!!

Tata Photon Plus - Billed Large Amount Wrongly, Very Poor Service

One fine morning, I recieved an email in which it was said I had exceed usage limit and needed to pay Rs. 3000. My connection was cut the same day.

Then, I received an email which said I needed to pay Rs. 2251

Then, a customer care guy from Photon Plus called me and said he would make a concession and charge me Rs. 1100. He also asked me to take the unlimited connection of 950 from next month and shift my plan from the 650 plan which I have. To avoid this sort of a hassle ever again, I said ok and he said he will send a person to my home the next day.

Well, the person didn't come and around a week has passed since then. I had decided to change my connection but I didn't as I thought the person will come. Today I received a bill of 2251 and it is quite ridiculous as I haven't transferred so much data!

I tried talking with customer support. What they did was send me an email saying they will look into the matter and tell me by December 5th. Why should I wait this long? I have already waited for around a week.

Who will compensate for the 7 days of connection I didn't have because of the ridiculous service provided?

My photon plus number is 9230036171 and my mobile number is 9874035252. I am hoping against hope some one from Photon Plus can resolve this.

In the mean time, please suggest an alternate. Which data card should I change to guys?

Thanks.

Bsnl 3g : Error 734, help me

Posted: 01 Dec 2010 12:22 AM PST

I guess there is some bug with BSNL software. Reinstalling the software from scratch helps sometimes. refer these steps.

1) Exit from BSNL dialer. This will prompt you "close modem", select "Yes".
2) Remove the USB Datacard physically.
3) Goto Add/Remove programs and uninstall both BSNL 3G and HSPADataCard softwares
4) Goto Network Connections - if you find BSNL 3G Modem there, right-click and delete.
4) Reboot your PC
5) Insert the USB Datacard. Autodetect will start setup. It will ask you to reboot. Reboot and setup will further continue.
6) Try connecting now and see how it works.

Are you one of those who have cut BSNL 3G SIM to make the same to the size of a Micro SIM or one of those who are planning to cut BSNL 3G SIM? Well, now no need to do it as BSNL has introduced Micro SIMs. These Micro SIMs will be made availabe in all major cities of every Telecom Circle.

BSNL has also announced 3G (Prepaid & Postpaid) data plans :

Details of Prepaid Plans :
Price of 32K Micro SIM : Rs. 30
MRP of FRC : Rs. 70
Starter Pack : Rs. 100

Details of Postpaid Plan :
Activation Charges Rs. 100
Fixed Monthly Charge Rs. 999
Free data Usage Unlimited
Validity 1 month.

I am not sure whether it is 2G OR 3G.
