Laptop connected wirelessly but can't browse the Web

I have an acer aspire laptop, purchased at the end of 2007, which has a Linksys N Model WRT 300N v1 router and a Comcast ISP. I am using Windows XP with Firefox 3.5.8 and Internet Explorer 8. My problem is that whenever i try to connect my laptop wirelessly to connect it to the internet it does connect successfully but i am not able to see anything on my laptop, that is no websites starts. Ok.. SBS 2003 crashed last week. I was able to successfully bring it back by restoring the system state and info store from a backup. Afterwards since it was missing a bunch of updates I waited for the weekend to do some updates, mainly due to some issues webmail was having; first it wouldn't work in IE then if an attachment was added it would make the store.exe crash.
