aspire 5542g lap top suddenly freeze

I sit as a MacBook, where I had to reinstall Windows, since I had to use a program that school provided. Something I use Parallels Desktop.

But now when I use the program to keep learning on a projector, I can not use the extended screens. The only thing that I have on my screen is going to clone the screens, and then see the students 'notes'. The point is just to see photo.

I have a big problem with my Acer aspire 5740g laptop. it is now 2 months old and lately it keeps crashing. I think it is just too hot and the laptop will not cool. I have the back of already placed a little higher so that it can be "released" better. Can this go on but I can do anything? Is it really that cool? Can you fix this? I have installed Windows Xp on my Acer Aspire One which is directly shutting down on logging on Windows. Actually it can log into Windows but after only few minutes, it automatically shuts off.
