I do not - there are simply too many variables at the moment.

The official timeline is 90 days from the first connections in Mumbai, BUT, I'd rather do it properly than rush and screw it up, so let us ensure Mumbai is sorted, and from the day that the first customers start seeing connections in Mumbai, only then will I be able to give you a more accurate count down.

It could have been avoided, yes, and it was a huge mistake on our part. I wanted the devices to support everything from the get-go. More effective (and would have been cheaper) for us to get devices that do what we want than having to replace them after only 6-9 months, and way more effective than having 2, 3 even 4 devices to sort out the various services (in my parents house in NZ they have 3 devices to supply Broadband and VOIP only!)

Surprisingly, consumer triple-play GigE capable FTTH equipment isn't as easy to come by as you might expect - most of it only supports 100-base FX/BX or worse, FTTB with triple play services delivered from the basement to the home (in other words, the last 20-50 meters) over... VDSL!!

Now the cost of direct-fiber devices are almost down to a similar pricing level to the VDSL gear (a VDSL DSLAM for an apartment block costs about US$100 per line, but averaged over say 5 years it's only a couple of dollars a month) so VDSL basically no longer makes sense - only thing is, VDSL gear is more widely available, and we may still have to deploy it in buildings that won't let us run our own cables.

Funny what 6-months can do.

Well, I know a person in Kolkata only using reliance, he uses torrents and its fine. He runs a script that checks whether connection is disconnected or not.

Those douches are in the minority otherwise why has this issue not created the scandal ppl seem to think it is. It's been passed and is a done deal. Like I said. Some things are better, others not. My only complaint about Linux is webcam support. It works, usually, but not always 100%. I've not had problems with Audio, but I'm only bothering with stock-standard hardware because I've not owned a desktop rig in over 5 years - and it's been a similar amount of time since I did any gaming.

I used to be a KDE man (with SuSE) but the UI doesn't seem to do it for me anymore - at least in Kubuntu it still seems badly integrated. Gnome is OK these days and seems to be reasonably nicely integrated in to Ubuntu and Fedora.

Hayai Lite is wireless, not fiber, resulting in the speed difference and why we would advertise it as a lite service, not suitable for bittorrent and gaming and whatnot.

The delivery speed could be a higher than 5mbit/s, but we can only anticipate bitrates of about 5mbit/s per household.
