BSNL broadband intermittent service in Goa

Posted: 27 Aug 2010 02:44 AM PDT

:wall:Hi Im in Goa and am experiencing untold problems with BSNL I am on the unlimited plan. The problem is however the intermittent service, yesterday it worked fine all day today it wont display any pages. I call the BSNL help line continually. I feel like I'm chasing my own tail! Now they say we need a new modem! (last year they replaced the modem and the telephone line). I desperately need to have a fast reliable internet connection as I use VOIP. Is there any alternatives for me to try. The dongles are not fast enough for my requirements, I need speed and reliability Is there any hope for me here or do I move back to Europe?? Is everyone out there who is signed up to BSNL getting the same inferior service?? Its just not good enough.
ERRRRGG in the time its taken to compose this mail my service has gone down again. Oh my it makes me so Mad.

US Open 2010 HD? HD recording? Help please.....

Posted: 27 Aug 2010 12:03 AM PDT

Hi,

I have evaluated all the major Digitial TV options, and have narrowed down on Airtel Recorder, on the basis of following requirements that I have,

* Requirement for Zee Sports
As a a sports (tennis) fan, I require Zee sports, as a lot of Master series come only on Zee Sports.

Since Tata Sky and Big TV do not have Zee sports, those are completely out of picture for me. Thus, I have shortlisted Dish TV and Airtel, as both of these have Zee sports.

* Requirement for Recording
Another important requirement for me is the recording feature. Many of the tennis matches come at really ackward timings (office hours or late night). Thus, a DVR feature would work best for me, I can record all these matches and view at my convenience.

Now, since Dish TV doesn't have recording feature, I have finally narrowed down to Airtel Recorder...

Now I have a few questions regarding the Airtel Recorder

1) I checked online and saw a rate of Rs 5490 /- for Airtel Recorder with Ultra Pack. Are there any discount schemes?
Airtel digital TV Packages

2) Does this pack consist of the National Geographic HD channel too? Any news of new HD channels to be launched in the near future?

3) Is the Tennis US Open 2010 going to be telecasted in HD? I don't see Ten Sports HD in Airtel, but is there any confirmation of event based HD content for US open in Airtel?

3) I am aware that the recorder cannot record HD content. I am going to invest a substantial amount in buying this recorder, but if in the near future, Airtel launches a HD DVR capable of recording HD content, then I would have to upgrade and spend additional costs.

Should I wait for a few months if there are any news that Airtel is going to launch a HD recorder in the near future?

3) Can I record multiple shows simultaneously? i.e. there is a cricket match at 8 pm and also a TV serial at 8 pm, can I program it in such a way that both these shows get recorded at the same time?

Thanks!

Did it after i ditched reliance and moved and it works for me.

Also most cable ISPs dont have any FUP.

Most cable operators are merely the distributions mechanisms for ISPs such as Hathway and Fivenet and others, rather than being ISPs in their own right. You would normally get FUP'd by the ISP itself.

The exception to this is if the cable operators in question is actually reselling the service of another ISP under their own brand (which I have a feeling your CO which I believe is 7star is doing) rather than merely distributing it, however I believe this to be an exception rather than a rule: not all areas will have this option.
