In a Diwali bonanza to its customers, Vodafone India Thursday said it has slashed data rates by up to 80 percent across the country, with effect from November 1.
In June, the company had reduced the price from 10 paisa per 10 KB to 2 paisa per 10 KB in Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh circles and it has now extended the same rates to all its circles from November 1.
The company said same rates will be charged even if the customer is in roaming.

I bought a belkin d-link router recently.As you know the Hathway Broadband users have to login to Hathway Portal everytime which allows access to the internet.

Now the problem is when i log in on my pc,i'm not being allowed to login on my laptop[using wifi ofcourse] or any other wifi enabled device for that matter.Whenever i login it says 'User already logged in Maximum limit for sessions is reached' so the only way out is to logout of the pc n then login on my wifi enabled devices,which means i can use only 1 device at a time[Whatta Pathetic joke!!]

 

I asked customer care,they told me to buy static IP to get rid of this problem,but before spending extra money on that[which is ridiculous],i would like to know is there any other way out by which i can use multiple devices simultaneously?

MTNL Broadband VDSL2 User Experiences

I wanted to start a new experience thread simply to discuss MTNL VDSL.

Some things to consider before/after taking a new VDSL connection

 

SNR margins (SNRM)
Below 9 dB : Poor experience with lots of HEC and CRC errors. Line will disconnect frequently.
9   - 11  dB : Ok but not ideal. Disconnections will be there if some unexpected variance is introduced by rains, humidity in the wire.
12 - 16  dB : Ideal and realistic value. Expect almost no disconnections as the line has more wiggle room for tolerating variances.
17 dB and up : God Mode. Lucky few get this on VDSL synced at 30 mbps and up. So far I have seen various stats and no one has reported this SNRM (That is because VDSL sync rates are always higher)

 

Higher you sync rate, lower the SNRM will be. Lower the SNRM, lower the connection reliability. Lower reliability means frequent disconnections. Hence ISP's have a setting in DSLAM to artificially increase SNRM value for a particular phone line. Hence you sync at lower rate and line automagically becomes stable.

 

Attenuation may not be that important after all. It reduces sync speeds over a distance but is not an indicator of connection reliability. (You can roughly calculate your line length from it. Do it here)

Apply for VDSL connection only if you are within half km. Otherwise you will get ADSL like sync rates.

I will update this entry with some of our findings. Since VDSL is somewhat new to India, this thread can help some early adopters.

 

Currently the speeds are decent for fast servers. But single streams are slow due to a bottleneck somewhere.

Modem says downstream 2048kbps but getting 512Kbps

My plan is a combo 550 ( 512Kbps during the day and 1Mbps post 1800hrs). NOW.... My Sterlike Ax300 DSL GUI page says Down 2048Kbps! And MANY a times when i am downloading an app on my Android phone, I see the app downloading at 150KB/s  where as my PC is downloading file at 60KB/s (KILOBYTE not Bit).
 
Is there any tweak that can be done to utilize 2048kbps ??

With a large number of people buying HD TVs, the company states that the move of pricing HD boxes at SD price will ensure that customers get the most out of their TVs. With this move I also assume they will be adding many more HD channels to their bouquet. A very enticing offer an HD enthusiast can't miss.

On 1st  Oct 2013 the bonus card plan BC 34 (it give local calls at 40p/min) expired, & I renewed it on 7th Oct 2013 for which I received a sms 'Dear customer thankyou for activating BC 34 which will give Local mobile call rates at 40p/min. This promo has been activated on autorenewal and will be renewed'. This should have expired on 7th Nov 2013. But today I got an sms 'Priya grahak BC 34 agle 30 dino ke liye appke account main renew ho gaya hai. Is offer ke liye aapke account se Rs 34 ka balance debit kiya gaya hai. Luft uthay ein Local mobile calls@40p/min ka 30 dino ke liye'. Please note I had not asked for this auto renewal crap. So I have lost an entire week. Looks like Vodafone systems don't know how to count. I know this cannot be a one off case but an institutionalised skimming going on but even by Vodafone standards skimming ONE ENTIRE WEEK is over the top. So anyone else who gets this 'benefit' from Voda be warned.

Hello everyone, actually I got a new modem TP Link ADSL2+ (TD 8817)
After replacing my BSNL supplied wifi modem (WA3002G4) with the this one my connection speed has become too slow , like it takes 5-6 minutes to even load google.com
Even for this post I was forced to use My phones 2G Internet.

Problem During Night Time

From past 2 days, I'm experiencing a weird issue with my broadband. Around 6 pm to 12 am my internet becomes really slow, sometimes its around 30 kbps and sometimes it even dips down to 2-3 kbps. However, It works perfectly during the day. These are the stats, shown on my routers page, in case its helpful:

CRS / Phase III FM station set up

I'm completely new to this but am interested in setting up a Community Radio station. I've read up on it and from what I understand - individuals can't set it up but an educational institution can - am I right?

I'm also interested in knowing more about the Phase III FM bidding going on. To be eligible for that, do you have to already have a FM station? Or can a complete newcomer participate? I want to set a private FM station in the North East but it's difficult to know exactly where to start and what can/can't be done. Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A Truck Full Of 22.5k LG G2 Gets Stolen

A truck containing 22,500 LG G2 smartphones was stolen on the way to its destination in Louisville, Ky., CNET has learned. The phones were on their way to Sprint, which is expected to launch its version of the G2 early next month.

The phones were stolen at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at a truck stop in Gary, Ind., an LG representative confirmed to CNET. The driver left the truck for a bathroom break, and upon returning, found the vehicle missing.

The Indiana and Illinois state police have been contacted, as well as the FBI.

The G2 is LG's flagship device, and has stood out in the market with its unique volume and power button located at the back of the smartphone, right under the camera. It's a controversial change that has met with mixed reviews.

 The Indiana police was informed along with the FBI. The phones might not make there way all the way to India, but be aware if you find a cheap LG G2 somewhere!

The Wolf of Wall Street is an upcoming crime drama film directed by Martin Scorsese, based on the memoir of the same name by Jordan Belfort. The screenplay is being written by Terence Winter, and the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Belfort, along with other cast members including Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, and Matthew McConaughey, among others.
